The local derby between Hull Ionians and Hull RUFC will be a real battle as both sides will be looking to win a game after a downturn in the fortunes of both clubs in recent weeks.
Hull Ionians have won just three games, one of which was against Hull in the second game of the season. Hull recovered from that setback to win five and draw one game easing up the table, but three recent losses have seen them drop back a few places.
Hull Ionians have only had one serious defeat against Sheffield Tigers but have otherwise been in every game often losing by a couple of points. Their win against Tynedale being particularly creditable .
Hull have had some excellent results especially overcoming a 17-point deficit when defeating Lymm.
Hull welcome back second row Paulos Latu and winger cum full back Astley Harrison into the squad. This will give the selectors more options as they seek to recreate the early season form which Hull in fourth place .
Hull Ionians have managed to score well in all but one game and will be looking to repeat their earlier season success against their near neighbours.
Hull RUFC have the better record and with players returning to the squad they will be confident of giving a good account of themselves as they seek to take the points and reverse the result of this encounter in September .
