First Phase Improvements Needed

Saturday’s game was disappointing for all Hull players coaches and fans alike, but whilst there were things that did not go according to plan it takes a few things to go right for Hull to get back on track.

Two rather fortuitous tries helped Tynedale and knocked Hull’s confidence. The lineout was an issue but that will be worked on in training. Hull scored the best try of the match and their lineout defence was immense.

Nothing can be taken away from Tynedale who, despite a heavy penalty count against them, took the game to the home side and made the most of their scoring chances after a profligate first 10 minutes.

First phase possession is where the game starts and if Hull can get that right, it changes the whole balance of the game. Hull have done it before this season playing some great rugby against Lymm, Billingham and Sheffield Tigers to mention just three of their five wins.

Saturday will be tough at Fylde but Hull can give a very good account of themselves with a return to the form we have seen already this season.

Kickoff at Fylde has been brought forward from 15:00 to 14:15 because of an issue with the floodlights.
