Mike Delighted With Response To Falling Into A 17-Point Hole

Director of Rugby Mike Umaga prised his side for bouncing back from early adversity to claim their fifth win of the season. Lymm scored 17 unanswered points in the opening 20 minutes before the home side dominated the second quarter of the game. This was the first game since losing at Wharfedale in a below-par performance and Umaga was delighted to see a positive response to falling into a 17-point hole.

“The start of our match was still a bit of a hangover from the previous week,” Umaga said.
“We seemed to take an age getting into the game, but credit to the lads for bringing themselves back into the match at the end of each half.
”If that was last week, we’d have probably given up, but they found something that worked for them, which was our lineout drive, which hasn’t been one of our strengths recently. Today it worked for us.
“It was unfortunate to give away an interception try in the second half, but if we look at a couple of incidents, some of the points they scored were down to what we did.
“What we did well against Lymm was identify a strength and used it to win the game.
“We are learning every week and it was great to see Jamie Shaul get on the scoresheet and it was a hell of a try too.
”We still haven’t played a full 80 minutes.
”Rotherham will be a tough match this weekend.
“We are just taking one game at a time and Rotherham are second in the table.
“Everyone is looking forward to it because there is plenty of positives to take into the game.”
