Hull RUFC vs Billingham – Match Preview

Hull take on Billingham who have only lost to Rotherham and Fylde having beaten Tynedale, Otley, Sheffield and Hull Ionians and who are unbeaten on their home ground and are in fourth place in National 2 North.

All their victories have been close affairs as was their loss to Fylde and they will be a real test for Hull this weekend.

As a newly-promoted side, Billingham have started strongly with a decent lineout and a scrum that has held its own. They like to move the ball and their only loss by a margin came away to Rotherham but even there they left their mark, scoring 24 points in the process.

Hull will look to the side that shared the points last week at Preston and will be looking to improve on that result.

There were some very good moments for Hull last week with debutants Jamie Shaul and Will Wallis making a significant contributions from the bench.

The forwards, with Kym Russell and Billy Addy always keen to take on people, we’re not lacking in a go-forward mentality .

It has to be said that despite the fact Hull were well ahead at the 80-minute mark, lessons will have been learnt concerning the injury time comeback from Preston.

The results in this league have seen many close games so retaining possession and keeping a low penalty count can play a pivotal part in results.

Hull have a good squad of players and despite at least ten players sidelined through injury they have been competitive.

Saturday is another test which they will have a good chance of passing if they remain vigilant throughout and eradicate any lapses in focus.
