Hull gave a very good account of themselves for most of the first half last week against high flying Leeds Tykes. A couple of errors gave the home side a half time advantage that looked highly unlikely for most of first half.
Hull managed to play some excellent rugby and a half-time score in their favour seemed to be on the cards until the Leeds interception try. Leeds took their chances and were the better side in the end, but Hull have a lot to take from that game as they turn their attentions to this weekend’s fixture against Sheffield Tigers who, last week, were convincing winners over Hull Ionians.
It is possible the experienced second row Liam Regardsoe, back row men / second rowers Joji Logavatu, Joji Volaiksuva and influential back row man Mosese Nasilasila might all be able to return to the match day squad.
The backs will see David Halafoinua return to his position on the wing after helping out in the back row last week, but Hull maybe without Duell Trueman. Both centres Peter Hudson-Kowalewicz and Ali Heard should be okay and they have both been playing well. Hull will be hoping that full back/winger Harrison Astley will have recovered from his knock last week as he gives added pace to the back division.
Sheffield Tigers have started the season really well registering good wins against Otley, Sheffield RUFC and Hull Ionians whilst drawing away at Fylde. That is an impressive record and sees them in the top three already.
No game in this league is easy so Hull will need to be right on their game to get the better of the Tigers, but if they can recreate the form shown at Huddersfield and the first half against Leeds they have an opportunity to get something from the game.
