The fixtures computer hasn’t been the kindest for Hull RUFC with three away games in the first four matches. An opening day win at Otley came before the first home game of the season against local neighbours Hull Ionians. In the last two weeks, Hull have travelled to Huddersfield and Leeds Tykes. Despite the lopsided look to the fixtures, the team sit seventh in the National 2 North table. Prop Jamie Major feels the trips have brought the squad together and helped the new players integrate.
“The travelling has been good for the team,” Major said.
“The away games means more time spent together as a team and with this being a very new group of players it’s important to get to know one another on and off the pitch.
“Only four games in and the season already had its ups and downs.
“I think when we get things right we’re lethal in attack however we need to be consistent week in week out if we want to be up there at the end of the season.
“However it’s early doors and we’re a very new group going up against established teams that have been with each other for years so time will tell.
“I think we can improve our work at the breakdown and keep the same intensity in defence throughout the game.”
