Reece: Huddersfield Win Was Good, But We Can Play Better

Hull RUFC travel to Leeds Tykes this weekend hoping to build on the impressive performance at Huddersfield. Scoring seven tries was impressive as the backs clicked at Lockwood Park. Orchestrating things from fly-half was Reece Dean and he hopes to exploit weaknesses against a Leeds team that has won all three of their games so far this season.

“The Huddersfield performance gives us a decent platform to attack from,” Dean said.
“We’ve got options all over the place with Harrison on one wing and Bureta on the other.
“Leeds Tykes will be a good challenge for us. They beat Hull Ionians in a high-scoring game which suggests their defence might be a bit leaky.
“Our lads are in high spirits and we’ll see if we can turn them over.
“We played well at Huddersfield, but I still think we can play better.
“We’ve still got a lot of injuries and we’re missing a lot of key players.
“Last Saturday was a bit of a mix-and-match team, and while we won well, we still have room to improve.
“We let ourselves down the previous week and the lads know that.
“We looked at the positives from that defeat and one of those positives were that we played that bad, but only lost by five points.
“We worked on a few things in training and they paid off against Huddersfield.
“That performance was coming, we created opportunities but execution wasn’t quite there.
“It clicked at Huddersfield and a lot of that comes from the forward pack.
“They were spot on against Huddersfield and our set pieces were solid.”
