Billy Addy adds it was important to bounce back from the derby defeat to Hull Ionians on Saturday at Huddersfield. Addy scored the first of seven tries in a 49-12 win at Lockwood Park to get their season back on track. It was the forward’s first try in two and a half years in what was a very impressive performance for a player who needed hospital treatment after the derby. Huddersfield had no answer to Addy’s strength as he stretched over the line in a comprehensive win.
“We’re really happy with the way we bounced back,” Addy said.
“We left some crucial points on the pitch last week, but we gelled really well even though we were without some of our mainstay players.
“Those players who haven’t played much this season came in and filled their boots. It was fun to play in that game.
“We created plenty of chances and when they didn’t come, our heads didn’t go down like they would have last season, we just stuck with the plan and it might happen and eventually it pays off.
“My try was my first in two-and-a-half years and I really enjoyed it.
“I had to stretch for it and it was right on my fingertips but I got there.
“It was a shaky start for us, but we grew into the game and we had a few tries disallowed too.
“Once we got the first try, it sort of snowballed after that and Huddersfield’s heads went down.
“Leeds Tykes will be a tough game, they came down to this league with us.
“We had a close encounter and a tough loss with them last season and we’ll give them a good go. It should be a good game.”
