Hull travel to Huddersfield on Saturday to take on a side who like
themselves, lost narrowly at home to Hull Ionians, and have won one theirother opening fixture.
The season has barely started but National 2 North already looks highly
competitive with most games being relatively high scoring and close affairs, and
this encounter could well follow that format.
Hull have injury concerns over back row forwards Jack Baldry, Latu Makaafi and
Joji Logavatu as well as centre David Halaifonua. Liam Regardsoe is unavailable so a
number of changes are likely from last week’s line up.
In the backs, the pacey Harrison Astley could make his return and the
versatile Duell Trueman could move to wing or centre. The second row could see
Kym Russell and Billy Addy team up with newcomer Mosese Nasilasila a possiblity for the vacant back row spot.
Props Charlie Beech and Joji Volaikisuva , back rower/centre Paulos
Latu and backs Matiu Welch and David Davison could make up a strong array of
substitutes. Because of the injury situation, selection will be made as late as
possible when the exact make up of the side will be revealed.
Huddersfield will present a significant challenge to Hull who will need
to be on their game to come away with the points. It is worth noting that
in both their opening games Hull have lasted well and posed problems for
their opponents as the game has entered the last quarter.
If Hull can start as well as they have finished in those games they
could well come away with a win, but they will need to ensure they retain
the ball when in possession if they are to put the kind of pressure on
Huddersfield that will result in points on the board and the opportunity
of coming away with the right result.
