Season 2022/23 was a historic season for Hull RUFC playing in the third tier of English rugby for the first time and while results did not go as well as the club obviously hoped for it still proved to be a season for achieving personal milestones.
First Ali Heard became only the fourth player to achieve 200 appearances for the club in March followed closely by team mate Mike Jobling who made his 200th appearance in our penultimate game at home to Cambridge on 15 April .
Unfortunately Mike picked up an injury resulting in him missing the last match of the season and therefore ending a club record breaking run of 93 consecutive appearances stretching back to December 2018 and comfortably beating the previous record for consecutive appearances held by our former player Joe Stafford.
Having missed the 31-3 league win at Sandal on 1 December 2018 Mike appeared in all the remaining 14 games of season 2018/19 and every game the following season 2019/20 before the Covid pandemic brought a premature end to the rugby season in March 2020.
With all rugby cancelled for season 2020/21 Mike appeared in every game in our promotion winning 2021/22 season that resulted in the club playing in National One for the first time. Mike made a further 25 consecutive appearances in 2022/23 before injury ruled him out of the final game of the season a week after he had made his 200thappearance for the club.
Everyone connected with Hull RUFC send our heartfelt congratulations on a quite outstanding personal achievement . A new Hull RUFC club record – 93 consecutive appearances. Well done Mike.
