Will Hall admits he is honoured and proud to be given the opportunity to be vice captain this season. Ali Heard will remain as captain, a role he shared with Cam Curry who sadly announced his retirement earlier this month. Hall is thankfully for the chance made by Director of Rugby Mike Umaga, and the back row forward is glad the new season is just days away and they can look to achieving their team and individual goals.
“Thank you firstly,” said Hall on his new appointment.
“I feel very proud and honoured to get the opportunity.
“Realistically our main goal is to get back to winning ways.
“After a tough season last year, we need to regroup and hit the ground running.”
When asked about how pre-season had gone, Hall admits it has been hard work and admits he’s relieved the serious stuff begins on Saturday. An encouraging pre-season friendly at Darlington Mowden Park last Friday should help set the tone when the team go to Otley on Saturday in their season opener.
“Pre season has been a good test mentally and physically especially the Tuesday nights in the gym then onto the field,” Hall said.
“It’s really brought us closer together having these minging sessions chucked at us.
“Friday at Darlington went really well.
“If we’re honest, the first half we weren’t good enough and the lads know that.
“In the second half we showed exactly what we’re about.
“Considering it was the first proper hit out it’s exciting and we’re buzzing for the challenge ahead.
“A shout out to the young lads and new boys coming in to it all, they’ve done really well and settled straight in.
“Saturday can’t come quick enough!!”
