Peter Thanks Ali For Settling In So Well

One of the highlights of last season was the emergence of some of the younger players who were given an opportunity to play in the third tier of English rugby. It’s never easy to come into a side and try to settle in, no matter what league a team is in. Peter Hudson-Kowalewicz was one of several player handed his Hull RUFC debut in National 1 last season and he took his opportunity with both hands. Playing at inside centre, Hudson-Kowalewicz certainly looked the part in the final two games of the season against Cambridge and Bishop’s Stortford and he thanks Ali Heard for helping him through those matches.

“I thought I settled in quite quickly in those games and that’s what gave me the confidence to play my own game,” Hudson-Kowalewicz said.
“That’s why I really enjoyed it and it was made easy by Ali Heard and Reece Dean who helped me out loads.
“The chat from Ali on the outside throughout the game made me feel so much better.
“The games I played at the end of last season were really tough but I tried to step up as much as I could and fill the position as best I could.
“The speed of the game was the one thing I noticed plying in National 1.
“I had to read things a bit earlier and think a bit earlier. Communication had to be on point also.
“It was so good to play those two games in National 1. I feel a part of the group already which is really good.
“I enjoyed it so much even though it was a tough ride, I enjoyed playing with everyone. And I’m keen to get stuck in this season.
“I can take so much experience from last season into this season.
“To make my National 1 debut last season and play two games at that level was massive for me.
“Being able to integrate more before this pre-season has helped me so much with my confidence.
“I’m really looking forward to the new season. We have loads of good players and I’ve got a lot to learn, but there lots of good players here to learn from.”
