If it ain’t broke, don’t try to fix it. That’s the mantra for Director of Rugby Gary Pearce who has announced that Cam Curry and Ali Heard will continue their roles as joint club captain. Both players lifted the National 2 North trophy at the end of last season and Pearce sees no reason why things should change. Heard missed the second half of last season because of a knee injury, but the centre is making great progress.
“Both Cam and Ali are well respected by the players,” Pearce said.
“I don’t see why we should change anything.
“Cam did a great job least season speaking the referee and Ali is close to returning from injury.
“Ali actually looks to be ahead of schedule and he might be available for selection for the trip to Bishop’s Stortford (September 3).
“He’s back in full training doing everything with the rest of the squad and we’ll continue to monitor him.
“It’ll be a big plus to have Ali back as he leads by example and is a big part of the squad.”
Meanwhile, the club are expected to name a club captain in the coming days.
