Gary Pearce believes new signing Joe Carlisle’s experience will prove invaluable next season as Hull RUFC embark on their first ever season in National League 1. Carlisle has over 200 appearances at the top level in a career that has included spells at Wasps and Worcester in the Premiership as well as time at Benetton Treviso, London Welsh, Perpignan and most recently Old Elthamians. With Simon Humberstone leaving the club at the end of the promotion winning season, Carlisle will fill the void left by Humberstone, whose role in winning the National 2 North title cannot be underestimated. Pearce is delighted to announce the signing of Carlisle and reveals there are still more new signings in the pipeline.
“We’ve signed Joe Carlisle who has played over 200 games at the highest level, Pearce said.
“He has a lot of experience. He was at Old Elthamians before their financial problems.
“He finished the season at Rotherham and he lives across the bridge, so that is great for us.
“We will need his experience next season.
“We are still sharpening our pencil with a few more young players that we are talking to.
“We hope they will come our way.
“Really, we are only looking for another three, possibly four players.
“We still have a bit of time left to sign them and we’re not panicking because we retained pretty much all the squad from last season, so we’re not in a bad place.”
