There will be a familiar face back at Chants Ave next season as Tomasi Tanumi has accepted a role to help out on the coaching side. Tanumi will be backs/skills coach and if needed, he’ll be more than happy to put the boots on and play in the club’s first ever season in National 1. Tanumi, who has represent Hull RUFC 153 times, accepts the new season will be a tough step up, but knowing the players as well as he does, he expects the squad to rise to the challenge.
“I’m excited to be back at Hull RUFC-back to be backs/skills coach and player,” Tanumi said.
“The club, players and coaching team and Gary Pearce did a great job of getting promoted into National 1 rugby.
“I’m sure we’re all in the know it’s a massive step-up and it isn’t going to be easy.
“This squad has proved some resilience and togetherness last season.
“It will need the same effort, togetherness and resilience again.
“It’s was a gallon of an effort last season from everyone involved and It was great see the lads get the promotion as it’s been a long time coming from these players.
“I’m sure ALL the players, myself, included, are looking forward to the new season and as to playing, if it’s needed then I’ll be more then happy to boot up.”
