Saturday’s promotion to National League 1 as winners of National 2 North is just the latest achievement Gary Pearce can add to his already glittering CV. This is his second promotion to the third tier of English rugby in the city of Hull, having already done so with Ionians in 2013. But the former Welsh rugby union star says this season’s glory is as good as it gets.
“I feel very proud. Proud of the lads and the club,” Pearce said.“Winning titles are very precious.
“I’ve been very fortunate in my career both as a player and coach to win things.
“Winning this title with Hull RUFC is as proud a moment as it gets.
“Any league title is very hard earned and I kept stressing that to the lads during the run-in.
“We all have to enjoy this and it’s the players who have put us here.
“The club, me, the coaches, we give the players the tools and ultimately it comes down to them on the pitch.
“They can’t do it without the help of those off the field like Clive, Cal, Chloe and Lauren.
“It’s a big team effort to win anything and I’m very proud.
“This is a great achievement for me personally and the players and the club.”
