Sam: Beating Stourbridge Is Perfect Start To 2022

Beating a side third in National 2 North by 43 points shows how far Hull RUFC have come in recent months. Earlier in the season, Stourbridge beat Hull thanks to a last minute penalty which left a bitter taste in the players’ mouths. So you can imagine the delight after Saturday’s statement win for the league leaders. Scrum-half Sam Crane admits being top of the table is great and the players intend to enjoy the journey wherever it takes them.

“It was awesome to kick off 2022 with a win like that, beating a very good Stourbridge side who were unbeaten for a while at the start of the season,” Crane said.
“We all remembered the disappointment away at their place so it felt great to right some of those wrongs.
“We started very well and didn’t let of the gas at all, running in some lovely tries.
“We are all buzzing to be at the top of the table.
“We’re enjoying the ride, and the all rewards from our hard work.
“It’s going to be an interesting second half of the season so stay tuned because we are definitely going to be in the mix for the top spot!”
