Hull go to Rotherham this Saturday hoping to defend a record that is the envy of English rugby. Hull currently have the best scoring defence in the Premiership, Championship, League 1 and National 2 North and South.
After eight games, Hull have conceded just 9.25 points per game. In the Premiership, Saracens concede 15.4 points per game while in the second tier, the Cornish Pirates give 18.75 points a game. In National League 1, Rosslyn Park lead the way with 14.4 points conceded per match. Prop Mike Dias puts the achievement down to focus.
“We have focused a little more this season on defensive structure,” Dias said.
“The boys have bought into that as well.
“It’s become a thing now and something we can hang our hat on.
“We want to be the team that no body wants to play.
“It’s something we don’t really think about to be honest.
“The best way to describe it is a bunch of mates playing for each other and enjoying the challenge of backing each other up.
“Our scramble defence is great if someone makes an error, we want to make it right and cover for them.”
