Beating Harrogate any time of the season is a good result. To nil them is even better. But to achieve it with first choice fly-half Simon Humberstone and regular full-back Steve McColl speaks volume about the versatility within the squad. The changes meant a rare start playing at 15 (although he actually wore 21) for Duell Trueman. Trueman relishes the opportunity to start at full-back and his communication helped the team record their second shut-out of the season.
“I had the first opportunity to start at full back and really enjoyed it,” Trueman said.
“With the depth of talent we have in the squad, it means that the opportunity doesn’t come around that often.
“So a chance to blow the cob webs off at 15 was great.
“With Reece starting at 10, it meant it was a back line that had not played together all that much.
“But it showed some real intent and promise for the future.
“We knew that Saturday’s game was never going to be an easy ride, so to come away with five points and to nil them was all the more impressive.”
