Richard Gore’s Preview: Huddersfield Should Not Be Underestimated

Last week’s 26-19 victory against Loughborough Students continued Hull’s excellent start to the season, having only lost once, narrowly to high-flying Stourbridge and winning all their other games including a comprehensive win against ambitious Chester.

This weekend, Hull travel to Huddersfield who suffered a heavy defeat last Saturday at Stourbridge, albeit with a weakened side. Huddersfield have only won one game and that was against bottom of the table Blaydon.

But a close result against Fylde suggests Hull would be well advised to respect their opponents if they are to extend their own impressive winning sequence.

Hull’s pack have out scrummaged their opponents so far this season, and a rock solid defence frustrated even the fluid Loughborough Students attacking ambitions which makes them difficult opponents for most sides.

An intriguing contest is in prospect with Hull potential favourites, but Huddersfield know they need a win to get their season back on track, so Hull will need to bring their ‘A’ game on Saturday if they are to secure a maximum five-points haul.
