Hull prop Charlie Beech admits Hull could well be top of the table with a perfect record, but is pleased to be third in the table after winning their fifth game from six. Beech is impressed with the experience within the squad and that experience has helped them start the campaign as well as they have.
“A win is a win, but I think there was some good rugby played by both teams,” Beech said.
“It was just a bit backwards and forwards and a bit scrappy at times.
“We knew Loughborough would be a very well drilled side and very fit.
“They are also very quick and we knew what we were going to get from them and we knew how to counter that.
“We did that for 20 minutes and we decided to play them at their own game and have a bit of a laugh with it. We got there in the end.
“Given the experience in the squad, and I say experienced rather than old.
“We know the quality that is in this squad and we hoped we’d start the season strong so it’s actually nice to do it.
“It could have been six wins from six had it not been for a last minute penalty at Stourbridge but it’s been a very strong start.”
