As starts go, this has been a very good start to the season for Hull RUFC. A fourth win of the season was accomplished at Tynedale on Saturday as Sam Crane’s try and Simon Humberstone’s conversion secured a 17-11 win. Co-captain Ali Heard was delighted with the character his side showed to win that game despite trailing with less than 15 minutes to play. And his pride of being co-captain stems from the hard work and commitment his team-mates have shown so far this season.
“I’m very proud and grateful to be co captain of this team,” Heard said.
“The lads have so much heart and just get their heads down and work hard.
“That shows in our defensive record this season.
“It’s always more of a challenge away from home, so finishing the game off on Saturday was a good show of character.
“Although we know we didn’t have the best performance, we managed to grind out the win we needed.
“It’s really important that we carry on as we have been doing.
“Working hard for each other from week to week and then we will keep improving which we will need to do to make sure we perform each week.”
