Ben Bootham made his first appearance of the season in last week’s loss at Stourbridge and despite the defeat, the front rower admits, it’s great to be back playing again. Bootham, who watched the season opener from the sidelines, has been pleased with the level of commitment shown by his team-mates, but there is one area of concern for him.
“Penalties are killing us and is something we need to work on,” Bootham siad.
“We gave 10 penalties away in first half at Stourbridge and that puts unnecessary pressure on us.
“Our defence is solid as well as our set piece in the forwards.
“Line outs worked well and we stole a few of theirs last week.
“For tomorrow’s game, we just have to improve on discipline and be a bit more clinical.
“If we focus on these, we will be unstoppable and prove to be a huge threat to any team we play.
“For me, it was great to be back. The teams determination and effort is outstanding from every single player on the sheet.
“The fitness of the boys is great and a lot of the players are doing their own work out of training but Cal has done a great job pre-season.”
