Hull RUFC get their new season up and running with a fixture against Luctonians at Chants Ave on Saturday.
It will be the first competitive fixture in the last 18 months and the team are chomping at the bit to get back to the action where National 2 North league points are up for grabs.
Steve Johnson is predicting a physical game to start the season and believes his side are going to have to put in a commanding performance for the full 80 minutes, and beyond, to start the season with a win.
“Saturday’s game is going to be a good one,” Johnson said.
“We expect they’ll be physical so a good one to be getting stuck into, first game up.
“As long as we keep working hard for the full 80 minutes and keep switched on, we should come away with the win.
“Everyone has worked really hard and the coaches have prepared us very well so it’s up to us to go and do it.
“A home game to kick things off, competitive rugby with some exciting new laws should make for a decent afternoon!
“Hopefully we will see plenty down to come and cheer us on!”
It’s been a long time since we’ve had a competitive game at Chants Ave, so it would be great to see all our supporters this Saturday to kick the season off in style. Kick-off is 2pm.
