When the coronavirus pandemic struck, it brought the world to a standstill. All forms of community rugby was suspended for over a year as Covid was contained as best as possible.
Prior to the suspension, Hull RUFC were doing well, establishing themselves as a National Two North team.
Forward Latu Makaafi felt the team were building something special and he hopes the players around him can pick up where they left off in March 2020.
“We were disappointed with how the last season ended,” Latu said.
“We were getting better as a team with every game.
“I’m excited to be getting back to rugby and the squad.
“Training has been brilliant to get back to seeing the team, we’ve worked hard to make up for the last 18 months.
“This week’s game is highly anticipated by us, especially as its the first game and a home game too.
“I feel the squad is in a really good place and after two great pre-season matches we are out to win.
“We look forward to welcoming Luctonians and hope for a good game for everyone.
“And welcome back to our huge crowd of supporters!
“We are excited, highly anticipated, and out for a win!”
