Steve Johnson is confident Hull can go to Huddersfield and get their season off to a winning start, as long as they keep their discipline.
Johnson, who played a key role in the club’s promotion back to National 2 North, is excited by the prospect of playing in the fourth tier of English rugby.
The versatile back admits the pressure is on Saturday’s opponents who will expect to beat the newly-promoted side.
“Saturday’s game against Huddersfield for us is a very exciting prospect,” Johnson said.
“There is no pressure on us which is giving us the excitement of going out and playing rugby.
“Last season, the pressure was on us to perform every week while this year its a different mindset.
“There is good feeling around the club with all the boys and everyone is so keen to get going!
“Having played in National 2 North before, this year has totally different feel to it.
“I really do think we can shock some teams this year and get some really good results.
“Saturday, without giving too much away ahead of the game, we’ve done our homework (well Martin has) and we’re ready to go.
“The key point for us going into Saturday is discipline!”
