Norman Angell’s lowdown on Kirkby Lonsdale

Kirkby Lonsdale were founded in 1877 and two seasons ago they won promotion to the Northern Premier Division. They acquitted themselves very well at the higher level to finish a very creditable eighth in the table, winning ten and losing sixteen of their matches, picking up 17 bonus in the process. I think they will agree with me when I say that their most impressive win of the season was a 17-12 home win over the eventual champions Preston Grasshoppers.  The two corresponding games against ourselves resulted in heavy wins for Hull to the tune of 52-8 at the Ferens Ground and 42-12 at Underley Park.

This season they have made a good start winning three of their five games and they come to us today on the back of two consecutive wins over Alnwick by 24-10 (home) and Vale of Lune by 29-22 (away). They will be keen to give our side a hard time this afternoon.

It is a pleasure to welcome the players, officials and supporters of Kirkby Lonsdale RUFC to our ground on Saturday.
