Hull enter the most important four days of their season with the Yorkshire Cup Final on Wednesday night followed by a promotion playoff on Saturday.
Hull have had a tough season but achieved their place in Yorkshire Cup final by beating Driffield.
Their opponents Doncaster Phoenix, who sit fifth in Midlands Premier, caused a shock in some peoples’ eyes when they overcame a strong Harrogate side in their last round.
Doncaster have a young fast back division who can turn any possession into points.
Their league record is inconsistent but they have had good results against the top sides in their league and will command great respect from a Hull team who have become stronger as the season has progressed.
Hull have become a good scrummaging unit and this has stood them in good stead particulay since Christmas.
Hull can also point to a hard working pack in the loose as well as a back division which has seen tries coming from all positions with both current wingers scoring freely .
However, occasional lapses in the lineout and the ability to lose possession in dangerous areas will need to be minimised against a side who punished Harrogates errors with ruthless efficiency.
Both sides will be hoping for good conditions under foot and a keenly contested game is anticipated.
The key may well be which side has the better game plan and Hull could have the edge here as they contemplate winning their second victory in this long standing competition.
