Pearce pleased with progression of promotion chasing Hull squad

Gary Pearce and Martin Webdale have guided Hull to within touching distance of securing the Northern Premier League play-off spot.
A win in their final home fixture of the season against Kirkby Lonsdale and they will face the runners-up of the Midlands Premier League for a place in National Two North.
Pearce admits he has seen a difference between the squad of players from the start of the season to now and is pleased with the development of his personnel.
“The players have grown up and come of age,” Pearce said.
“They understand they are a fit side and know how dangerous they are.
“I feel the players are respecting the ball more and we defend better than any team in our league.
“Playing so many games away from home lately has helped us and our enthusiasm has increased as a result.
“We have a lot of good leaders and that has rubbed off on others and that is good to see.
“We’ve not needed to rile them up before games as they know what they have to do to win games.
“They know they don’t have to win games in the first half.”
“Our immediate goal now is to win on Saturday and secure promotion and then we can think about our final game at Rossendale and the Yorkshire Cup final.”
