Less than a year ago, Kiran McDonald was finishing the season playing for Hull in National Two North.
Fast forward nine months and the second rower was playing for Glasgow Warriors in the best club competition against one of the favourites Leinster in Dublin.
The journey from Chants Ave to Champions Cup is one less travelled, but McDonald will forever be grateful for the chance given to him by Hull RUFC.
“I’ve absolutely loved the past year or so,” McDonald said.
“It’s been a challenging time however.
“I’ve come on leaps and bounds and have been learning from the best in order to get to where I am now.
“To have the honour of getting my first cap for Glasgow was unreal and to back it up with more game time not only in the Pro 14 but in the European Champions cup against the world’s best is an unbelievable feeling.
“I can only thank the guys at Hull for giving me an opportunity to experience national league rugby.
“It’s a physical league and that helped prepare myself for the return trip to Glasgow.”
