Bootham keen to make the most of back-to-back home games

Saturday is the first of back-to-back home games for Hull and a chance to pick up vital points to keep the pressure on the leaders.
Hull are nine points behind leaders Preston Grasshoppers after eight games of the season and Ben Bootham believes the squad is gelling together well.
A mixture of expansive rugby and solid defending has got Hull playing well in recent weeks and the prop is determined to keep that going.
“This week is vital for us to get our home winning record back on track,” Bootham said.
“Last week was a good victory where we put everything we had worked on at training into game time.
“We have been focusing on game management and I feel now everyone knows how each player plays and we are now all starting to sing off the same hymn sheet.
“Connection between forward and backs is improving each week and giving us a great platform to play some entertaining rugby while still maintaining composure when things don’t go to plan and we resort back to the basics.
“Set pieces have improved in the last couple of weeks which is vital to providing quick ball to our electrifying backs.
“We need to back last week’s result up with a well structured attack and our usual solid defence to ensure a home victory.
“The guys again are training well and I know everyone in the squad is keen to put their marker down this weekend and prove why we belong at the top.
“Wirral will be a tough fixture, they have had a mixed bag of results but are picking up bonus points which means they can score points.”
