Norman Angell’s league round-up

On October 7th our side travelled to bottom of the table Morley who felt the full fury of a side determined to put their home defeat against Lymm the previous week behind them.
The game was won 47-0 with Hull scoring seven tries from Steve Hihetah (3), Lee Birch, Mike Adlard, Joe Stafford and Reece Dean, who also landed six conversions.
Elsewhere in the division, Billingham beat visitors Wirral 37-28; Harrogate had a 25-8 home win over Kendal and league leaders Lymm kept their 100% record with a 40-0 home demolition of Birkenhead Park.
Lowly Pocklington gave visitors Rossendale a hard game before losing 29-38; Hoppers and Kirkby Lonsdale had a battle royal at Preston with the home side winning 27-26 and in the Yorkshire derby Sandal had a somewhat surprising 37-14 home win over Ilkley, their first win of the season.
The pick of Saturday’s games has to be Rossendale v Preston Grasshoppers, a cracking prospect where fourth take on second.
Another close one should be the Kirkby Lonsdale v Harrogate game where seventh take of fifth with the new boys having taken well to the higher level of rugby.
Finally down at the bottom where Birkenhead Park entertain Morley, thirteenth playing fourteenth with both sides looking for their first win. I am not prepared to give the winners in any of these games!!
