Ilkley maintained their unbeaten record with a good 30-20 away win at Billingham; today’s visitors had a convincing 33-13 home win over Wirral; and struggling Sandal and Morley drew 10-10 at Morley. Pocklington were no match for visitors Kendal who won 61-26 but they gained a losing bonus point. Preston Grasshoppers swamped visitors Birkenhead Park by 60-14 and Rossendale found their visitors Kirkby Lonsdale very hard to handle before winning by 30-23.
The position at the top is that Lymm are leaders with 20 points,
‘Hoppers are second with 17 with a better scoring record than Hull who are also on 17 and Ilkley are on 16. All four are still unbeaten. At the bottom Birkenhead Park and Morley are both on two, Pocklington are on three and Sandal have four points. None of these sides have yet won a game.
The pick of today’s games in my humble opinion has to be the one we will witness this afternoon with first playing third and Ilkley v Rossendale where fourth play fifth. The third is at Kendal where the ninth-placed home side, who have somehow had to play their first four games away from home during which they beat Rossendale and Pocklington, now entertain second-placed ‘Hoppers.
