Scrum-half Harvey Harding hopes home advantage will help them stop the Preston Grasshoppers on Saturday.
Something has to give between two of the early pace setters who have gained maximum points from their opening two fixtures.
In fact, only points difference separates the two two sides with Hull 31 points better off.
Harding will have a crucial role to play if it’s going to be a home win on Saturday against a side expected to make an immediate return to National League Two North.
“We’re going to have to be a lot better this weekend but we’ve spoken about the Pocklington game,” Harding said.
“We got 10 points in the bag and we’re at home.
“Everyone wants to play at home and we’re no different.
“We’re trying to make it a fortress and we want people to fear coming to us.
“Preston have come down and will want to win promotion at the first attempt and they’ll be up for it.
Harding admits last weekend’s 30-0 win at Pocklington left him frustrated at times, but happy to have showed great spirit to get the bonus point win.
“We defended well in the first half and we couldn’t fault that,” he said.
“The first half was very frustrating and we made a lot of mistakes.
“We tried to play too much, but it showed how good our attitude is to come back and dominate the second half.
“After half-time we came out firing.
“Once we realised we were on the front foot, we went for the bonus point.
“We all dug in deep and we’ll have to do the same this weekend.”
