Bonus-point win puts Hull top

Hull made it two bonus point wins from two after beating Pocklington 30-0 at Percy Road.
Three tries in the final eight minutes gave the visitors the maximum points they were looking for.
Pocklington to their credit made life difficult for Hull, who didn’t help themselves with a number of uncharacteristic errors.
The first quarter of the game was played in Hull’s ’22’ but their defence was superb to keep the newly promoted side at bay.
The first time Hull crossed the half way line, they took the lead when Steve Johnson turned a penalty into three points.
Hull extended their lead seven minutes later when they were awarded a penalty try to make it 10-0.
Another Johnson penalty gave Hull a 13-0 lead at the interval.
Hull were made to wait until the 72nd minute to add to their score. Joe Stafford who turns 25 on Sunday, was rewarded for his excellent support play with an unconverted try.
Three minutes after that, Stephen Hihetah marked his return to the side with a fine try to end Pocklington’s resistance. With time running out, Lee Birch converted the score with a superb drop goal to save precious seconds.
It proved to be a good tactic as seconds later, Mike Adlard made it two tries in two games to round off the scoring and leave Hull grateful for the bonus-point win.
