Kay says opening win shows how far team has come

Rupert Kay believes last weekend’s 31-13 win over Rossendale was a sign of how far the club has come.
Last season, the Lancashire club beat Hull twice to snatch second place and leave Kay and co wonder what could have been.
It sent the players to the gym for a summer long workout which helped get them over the line against Rossendale.
Kay was one of the five players to get over the try line and admitted it felt satisfying to see their hard work pay off.
“For four months we spoke about getting off to a winning start so it was satisfying to achieve that,” Kay said.
“It’s great to see the last two months pay off for us and everything came together.
“It was a matter of pride for us. When we played them away at the end of last season, they did a job on us and dominated the set pieces.
“This shows how far we have come and how hard we have worked.
“That is just the start.
“This is a new week with new goals and Pocklington will be a new challenge.”
