Last season only two teams did the double over Hull – Huddersfield and Rossendale.
Huddersfield are no longer in the league following their promotion but Hull have an immediate chance of redemption against Rossendale in their season opener at Chanterlands Avenue.
Paul Hamber doesn’t need reminding that he and the rest of the squad fell short against the Lancashire club home and away.
But the Plymouth-born player is determined to put the record straight tomorrow.
“Obviously the biggest thing that we all keep coming back to is the fact that the club want promotion,” Hamber said.
“But for me more than anything I want to put a statement out there to the other clubs in our league that we are more than just words.
“It all starts against Rossendale and we need to go out there and perform to the best I know we can, especially against a side that we forgot to do so against last season.
“Collectively we have the squad and potential to go up but we just have to perform week in week out, because I know that the club want to, and I firmly believe we have the capability to get promoted and sustain ourselves in National 2.
“The squad is shaping up seriously well and the bond between the boys is unreal and I hope it continually grows throughout the season.
“I’m enjoying life up north massively, it’s similar to Plymouth in respect that it’s by the seaside so that’s a small home comfort for me but I’m thoroughly enjoying it up here.”
