After a hard day’s work specialising in finance recruitment for Chase and Holland in Chesterfield, the thought of getting in a car to come to Hull for pre-season training, can’t be easy.
But Mike Dias isn’t put off by the 140-minute round trip with a gruelling training session in between.
In fact, he embraces it knowing there’s a warm welcome for him when he arrives at Chanterlands Avenue, his new home.
“From day one since joining Hull there has been a very real feeling around the group of players we have,” Dias said.
“The end goal is promotion.
“Arriving at the first pre-season session and seeing the commitment from everyone but the togetherness has been the biggest boost for me.
“I know I’m joining a team that are ambitious and they are part way through a five-year plan that’s not only set by the board and coaches but by the players themselves.
“We have a very young close knit-squad with a couple new recruits including myself and the welcoming from the club and then players has been first class.
“There seems to be a general buzz about it being our 25th year and with that the added pressure of being real league contenders which I know everyone single of us are relishing.
“To sum things up, my impression of pre-season so far has been first class, the commitment and drive for each other is up there with one of the best pre-seasons I’ve done.
“It’s not my favourite part of the year I’ll be honest but I don’t dread coming up the M18 to Hull at all due to the buzz and excitement within the team.
“I’m really excited for the season with what I can tell already is a great team full of potential.”
