Hog roast will taste better after a win – Birch

Lee Birch has put in some formidable tackles this season but he wants his last to be the tastiest yet.
The full-back has been the last line of defence for Gary Pearce’s side this season and like all the players, he is looking forward to putting his feet up and enjoying a well-earned rest.
After Saturday’s season finale at home to Kendal, the club are providing a hog roast as a reward of finishing third in National Three North and reaching the Yorkshire Cup semi-final courtesy of John and Mary Beal.
Birch knows the food will taste so much better after a win and he’ll be doing all he can to make sure that’s the way they end their season after losing at Harrogate last weekend.
“I’m not one to dwell on what could have been,” Birch said.
“The defeat at Harrogate was disappointing but we’ve got this Saturday to correct things and set us up for next season.
“Everything is about building for next season.
“A good team performance and win this weekend is what we’ll be looking for.
“As for the hog roast and beer everything tastes a little sweeter after a win.
“But let’s get the game finished with first.”
