Hull continued their winning sequence against a strong Sandal side but they held on in the last ten minutes after dominating for long periods.
A tense opening quarter saw both sides working hard to establish superiority but it was Hull who scored first with a flowing handling movement putting in winger George Fossey for an unconverted try after thirteen minutes.Sandal responded with a converted try five minutes later after a good scrum but Hull we’re looking threatening every time they had the ball and two tries from centre Joe Martin saw Hull easing away from Sandal. A late Woods penalty saw the halftime score just 15-10 to Hull.
The second period saw Hull use the slope well and after just four minutes into the half Joe Stafford, Hull’s number eight, stormed over for a try converted by Tamasi Tanumi.Sandals Wood pegged Hull back with a penalty but after fifty six minutes Hull’s Lee Birch scored the try of the game beating four defenders on a fifty yard run to the line .
Both sides scored a penalty goal before Hull’s man of the match Joe Stafford crashed over for another try to put the game beyond Sandal.
Even two late tries by the home side could not prevent Hull from winning again and go up to fifth place in the league.
