Match Report: (A) Cleakheaton W 24-15

Hull continued their run of success at the expense of a determined Cleckheaton side . Hull ‘s points spree in the first half being enough to sustain them against a Cleckheaton comeback in the second period.
The home side started brightly and were rewarded with an early penalty goal but almost immediately Hull responded and after retaining the ball for several phases were rewarded with a try by second row Nell converted by Lee Birch.
With Hull in the ascendancy it was Lee Birch who made the most of a poor Cleckheaton clearance jinking his way past a number of defenders to score Hull’s second try. As he scored Birch sustained an injury and as he left the field Tomasi Tanumi slotted over the conversion.
Despite some resurgence from the home side it was Hull ‘s Nell who scored a further converted by Tomasi Tanumi to see Hull in a commanding 21-3 halftime lead.
The second half saw Hull increase their advantage with a penalty goal early on but overelaboration and a lack of control by Hull at vital moments saw Cleckheaton get a foothold in the game but despite the fact they scored two tries, one converted, they never seriously threatened to overhaul a Hull side whose victory continues their march up the league table.
